Turnkey deployment of a Generation Management System (GMS) enabling centralised monitoring, operational control and performance optimisation across Greece’s non-interconnected island power generation network.
The project addressed the demanding task of managing 34 isolated island grids, each supported by local power stations operating diesel and gas turbine generating units. With limited local technical personnel and increasing pressure to reduce operational overheads, the client required a more efficient centralised supervision and decision-support model.
MAS delivered high-availability GMS architecture based on its specialised SCADA platform, interconnecting local power plant systems with central control offices in Athens. The project was undertaken on a turnkey basis, covering engineering, procurement, software development, installation and commissioning.
This project highlights MAS’ capability to deliver large-scale Generation Management Systems for non-interconnected island power plants, where centralised supervision, operational coordination and efficient grid management are critical.
MAS combined SCADA, power management, grid management and centralised operational control within a unified digital architecture designed for distributed island power generation environments.
The project also demonstrates MAS’ expertise in high-availability local GMS systems, wide-area SCADA integration, real-time electrical and mechanical data acquisition and the monitoring of diesel and gas turbine generating units. Its advanced functionality included isolated grid management, automatic fault management, scenario optimisation algorithms, load forecasting, unit scheduling and sequencing, operational cost calculations, historical data analysis, fault reporting, proactive alerts and remote operational decision support.
MAS delivered the complete scope through turnkey engineering, procurement, development, installation and commissioning.
