Following the recent General Assembly Meeting held on March 18th and 19th, 2024, we are happy to share updates on our involvement in the European SOLARSCO2OL Project hosted by LOINTEK in Bilbao, Spain.
At the meeting, which brought together all 27 partners of the project, MAS S.A. actively participated in vibrant discussions focusing on the challenges and future directions of the SOLARSCO2OL initiative. We showcased our ongoing contributions, particularly in the development and implementation of demo operation logic, software, and hardware control tasks essential for managing the SOLARSCO2OL integrated system.
The SOLARSCO2OL Project, supported by funding from the EU Horizon 2020 program, aims to revolutionize the concentrated solar power (CSP) sector by developing an innovative supercritical CO2 (sCO2) power block. This technology promises increased flexibility and reduced Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) for CSP plants, positioning them competitively in the renewable energy landscape.
MAS S.A. collaborates closely with leading companies and esteemed universities across Europe to demonstrate a MW-scale integrated sCO2 power block system coupled to a Molten Salt CSP solar field. Our efforts contribute to the realization of the project’s ambitious goals, including enhancing the performance and efficiency of CSP plants while minimizing environmental impact.
The innovative SOLARSCO2OL plant layout, combined with advanced electric heaters and efficient heat exchangers (HEXs), represents a significant leap forward in CSP technology. This novel approach enables the design and operation of integrated CSP plant layouts, paving the way for sustainable energy solutions.
SOLARSCO2OL not only strengthens EU leadership in the CSP industry but also bridges the gap in research and development with global counterparts. By advancing sCO2 cycles as a key enabling technology, the project facilitates the widespread deployment of CSP plants across Europe and beyond.
As we continue our journey with SOLARSCO2OL, MAS S.A. remains committed to driving innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.
Stay tuned for further updates on our progress and contributions to this groundbreaking project.
