Centrifugal and axial compressors are susceptible to surge, which can cause catastrophic damage to your turbomachinery train.

The Antisurge Controller

The antisurge controller is one of the most critical turbomachinery control applications that protect a compressor from surge, by continuously calculating the distance between the compressor’s operating point and its surge limit line. The controller modulates a recycle or blow-off valve to prevent the compressor’s operating point from reaching the surge limit. At the same time, the antisurge controller maintains other process variables within safe or acceptable limits.

MAS S.A offers field proven control and protection solutions for your compressor based on latest technology updates and algorithms. Our advanced algorithms ensure that the compressor operates at peak efficiency, while each stage is protected from potentially catastrophic surge events, per OEM’s specification.

A crucial fact that is sometimes ignored, is that anti-surge controls are largely depended on the hardware platform used. For this reason, MAS S.A uses only specialized hardware from leading manufactures, such as Woodward, which ensure the needed speed and the quality and reliability requirements of such systems.

At MAS S.A we secure that starting from a single stage air compressor all the way to multi-section side stream refrigeration compressors running in parallel, the CCC standard antisurge control application can be adapted to a wide range of process applications simply through configuration parameters.

Generation Management System Pressed from the increasingly limited technical personnel in the islands but also from the need to drop operational overheads in order to keep energy prices competitive, the PPC was looking for ways to operate 34 power plants, located throughout Greece's islands, more efficiently. PPC Gavdos Plant Upgrade Description unavailable Compressor station retrofit A Gas compressor station of a Middle East customer, comprised of 2 x RR AVON GTs with Dresser Rand Compressors. The units were over 20 years old and had reliability problems. Operators often faced unexplained trips but also faced difficulty in mainlining process operational levels.
